Hopes were
high again after giving a good stuffing to Brinscall on their own ground
but we really needed a stronger team to tackle last year's champions. Again
we struggled to make a decent total without Col's batting skills. He was
having a week off handling his rod somewhere in Scotland. Still he deserved
some relaxation after his recent exertions. Jake's relegation to the seconds
was both a source of fun, as ever, but also a source of runs, topscoring
with 32. At 129 for 6 we thought we might just have enough. Feni's one-man
team Mr Feroze (who had taken 3-18) made 68 before aiming a wild swipe at
Steve Harwood and was bowled. Then it got interesting as wickets fell leaving
their last pair to scrape enough runs off the edge to win. Ten out of ten
for effort, but no points. |
