Match Report

Due to an administrative hiccup (or should that be cock-up?) we played the game with nine men, including the scorer. This held one great advantage for us - Tom didn't have to score. Strangely, there was a wet patch at one end of the wicket that meant that, even more strangely, it was possible to follow England v Denmark on the radio and Tom's 4" TV screen. Anyway it was 3 - 0 so the pitch suddenly became playable and we started. It must be recorded that Sargey WON THE TOSS and chose to field.

At one stage, St James had Billy Arnott and Don Lord at the wicket - 130 years between them - with the emergency medical services on standby. Steve Harwood had gone lame (perhaps we should have him shot?) so Colin replaced him. To combat the threat of the ball landing in the dents left by Don and Billy's zimmers he resorted to a bout of pie-throwing. Highly effective pie-throwing it must be said as he ended with 5-23. Lee Fowler gave great support in his best spell yet and James's ended up 65 all out.

It was a two man show as Col and Tricky Dicky raced to the required total in 14 overs. Col (51 not out - that'll be two jugs please) said he thought it was going to rain. So that's why he was in such a rush! Back to the Fold where James's 1sts had also score 65. Again, though, it wasn't enough.
